CHARTERHOUSE SQUARE, LONDON
Refurbishment and Cat A fit out of 65,000 sq.ft. of inspiring office space, part of the portfolio of one of London’s leading property developers, Helical.
The works included the strip out to shell, the demolition of the stability core, significant temporary works and reconstruction of a new rationalised structural core with piled foundations and structural steel frame and an additional storey.
Mohan Building Services were awarded the subcontract to carry out the strip out, demolition and alteration work at 23 – 28 Charterhouse Sq in London, a well known seven-storey building situated close to the old and very famous Smithfield Meat Market.
Substantial sections of RC floor slabs had to be removed as well as three, full-height internal staircases and large sections of load-bearing masonry walls.
Included in the works were significant amounts of non-structural demolition of blockwork walls and removal of floor screeds and other elements.
In essence, the entire central core of the building was removed.
To ensure the best results for such a difficult project, track sawing and Brokk demolition techniques were commissioned.
Mohan Building Services also commissioned the soft strip and Mechanical and Electrical removals of the building, including roof plant and enclosures, plus the removal of floor screeds.
